About Me

GOLD COAST, Australia
I like to help. I already spend my lunch hours at school helping out by doing B.O.S.E (Beautify Our School Environment) and picking up Rubbish, and also being a Games Leader, where I run sports and games for younger students. I wanted to volunteer for other community groups, but I have found out that I am too young for a lot of places. I need to be 14 to help at Riding for the Disabled, and 18 for the Animal Welfare League. Mum and I started looking for other ways I can help, and make a difference. I have now started a weekend Pamphlet Run, to save up enough to sponsor a child. I need about $500 a year for this, but I am determined to achieve this goal. In the meantime, I am going to get involved in lots of other little things, and help out little by little, because a little Faith, can go a long way

Faith and Yofan - The Friendship Begins

Well after months of my Family and I delivering pamphlets every Saturday, I have raised enough to Sponsor a Child.

We chose to go with http://www.plan.org.au/  as it is community based, and we could sponsor a child from Asia, which means we are a lot more likely to be able to one-day afford to go and visit the child.

So as of 8.15pm QLD time, I am the proud sponsor of Yofan, an 11 year old Girl from Indonesia.

I should recieve my sponsor pack in the mail soon, and my online account with photos of Yofan should be available within 24 hours.

I am so excited and can't wait to be able to share the new friendship with you all.

  1. Well done, Faith! I hope you get as much joy out of sponsoring a child as I have done. When I can, I will send you the story I wrote about the day I met my sponsor child. It was amazing!

  3. A book you may find useful/interesting:

The life you can save: Acting now to end world poverty by Peter Singer

Part of my degree is in cross-cultural communication so if you come across things that seem confusing...or if you feel you might have upset Yofan in some way and not understood how, just let me know and I'll hopefully be able to help :) Good Luck and I hope everything goes really well for you!

P.S. Have you thought about making and selling something...like beaded jewellery to sell at a stall or online (on here?) to raise money :)
